Universidad de Sonora
The University of Sonora is an autonomous and public service Higher Education Institution founded in 1942. It is the most valuable social heritage in the state of Sonora due to the magnitude and quality of its human and material resources, the number of students, the quality of the education it offers, the presence of its graduates and its impact on regional history and progress. Its six campuses located in a strategic geographical location, allows the institution to play an essential role in a wide area of influence and promote new and diversified educational options, generate and apply new discoveries in the face of the challenges presented by global development in the present millennium. As a tribute to the educational, cultural and scientific legacy of the alma mater, its name is inscribed in gold letters at the headquarters of the State Congress.

The University of Sonora is a public autonomous institution whose mission is to train competent integral professionals at the national and international level through quality and relevant undergraduate and graduate educational programs. It views teaching as its primary function and harmoniously articulates it with the generation and application of knowledge and technology, with social linkage, and with the dissemination of culture and the arts, in order to contribute to the sustainable development of society.
